Although Monday 5 May was a Bank Holiday, it was not a day off for the regular 10am Monday morning petanque players at College Field. There was a larger than usual turnout this week, with some extra family members joining in the fun. The group also enjoyed a special guest appearance by the Principal, Jenny Palmer (8989), who was adopted by the Foleys as part of their team.
With his previous sports coaching experience, Steve Sharman (7555) ably took control, and managed to keep play going for over an hour. Then it was time for tea and cake upstairs in the College Pavilion where the conversation continued.
The most senior player, John Hardy (4679) who is approaching his 90th birthday, was delighted to see the football shield from 1951 bearing his name.
The group enjoyed a sunny morning this week, but play continues throughout the winter whatever the weather. Everybody is welcome to join in, and the group would be delighted to see any new players.
