This latest achievement follows Andy's success last summer when he was part of the coaching team that guided the England Women's Over 40s to European Championship gold, further highlighting his continued contribution to hockey at the highest level of the masters game.

England's World Cup campaign in Rotterdam was a memorable one. Drawn in a challenging pool alongside Argentina, France, Zimbabwe and Italy, the team recovered from an 1-0 opening game defeat to Argentina by winning their remaining group matches to secure a place in the quarter-finals. There, England produced an impressive performance to defeat Scotland 3-1 and progress to the last four.

The semi-final presented an even greater challenge against the reigning world champions, South Africa. England responded with some outstanding attacking hockey, earning a thrilling 4-3 victory and booking a place in the World Cup Final against Australia.

The final itself was a fitting showcase of the quality and resilience displayed throughout the tournament. England took an early lead but trailed 2-1 heading into the closing stages of the final quarter. In a dramatic finale, England withdrew their goalkeeper in search of an equaliser and, with just 13 seconds remaining on the clock, scored to make it 2-2 and force penalty shuffles. Although Australia ultimately prevailed, England's remarkable fightback secured a well-deserved world silver medal.

Andy said that reaching a World Cup final and returning home with a silver medal was a special achievement and reflected the dedication, commitment and teamwork shown by the entire squad and staff throughout the tournament.
