Elizabeth College students from Years 11 to 13 interested in studying languages at A level and university had an inspiring visit from Zac Cross (11087) on Wednesday 10 September, who shared his experiences of studying at Oxford University. He described the Oxford entrance process, including interviews in Spanish and analysing French poetry, and reflected on what he enjoyed most while studying languages at school.
Zac offered practical advice for students looking to improve their skills, including reading French novels, watching films, exploring language through thesaurus study, and following their curiosity to immerse themselves further in the subject. He also shared stories from his time living and studying in Paris, which allowed him to work in France and deepen his knowledge of French language and culture.
Currently working as a trilingual tour guide at La Maison de Victor Hugo, Zac will soon return to Oxford to pursue a Doctorate in French Literature. We wish him every success in this exciting next stage of his education.
