For Old Elizabethan Will Booth (OE 10746), returning to Elizabeth College on 8 August 2026 was particularly special. This time, however, he wasn’t returning as a pupil or alumnus, but to marry Ailsa in the historic College Hall.
The couple had been looking for somewhere that reflected Guernsey’s history and would provide a meaningful setting for their ceremony, while allowing their Church of Scotland minister to marry them. It was Will who suggested they look at College Hall, and they immediately fell in love with it.
“The College was the perfect backdrop for our ceremony,” they said. “The historic building felt like such a beautiful piece of Guernsey’s history, which complemented so many of our Scottish wedding traditions perfectly.”
Guests admired the stained glass and elegant façade, while Will and Ailsa were especially touched by the warmth and kindness of the College staff. They were particularly grateful to caretaker Charlie for his help with the set up and clear up, and to Ros for guiding them throughout the arrangements.
“We couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful or meaningful setting.”
For Will and Ailsa, celebrating their wedding at College Hall created a wonderful new memory in a place that had already been an important part of Will’s life.
