Births Marriages & Deaths |
Many of you will have already heard of the untimely death of Dave Grut (5471) at the age of 73 after a long struggle with cancer.
The OEA and indeed the island have lost a remarkable person. Remarkable, in that he had great humour, was always smiling and had an extremely laid back approach to life but nonetheless achieved great success in business and in public service, notably as a States Deputy and a Jurat of the Royal Court.
His father was a senior States member at the same time as my father. Dave and I both followed on in our Guernsey family businesses and we felt closer for that parallel.
We will much miss his warm hearted presence.
The donkey flag has been flying at half mast above the College building this week in his memory.
