A MESSAGE FROM
THE OEA PRESIDENT
⸺⸺⸺⸺⸺⸺⸺⸺⸺⸺
In 2024, we celebrate the 200th anniversary of the rechartering of Elizabeth College, a pivotal moment in our history that saw a revitalisation of the school, the fraternity and the enduring positive impact on the island.
In a world becoming smaller and more connected and where information flows seamlessly across borders, we are building pathways to better use the OE Network. Over 10,000 people are engaged or connected through our portal: OEs, current students and connected parents. We want to find ways to provide value to our Network's connections.
We often think of the OEA in terms of the wonderful annual dinners where we meet and catch up with friends from school. The OEA is already so much more than that. It’s about reconnecting and forging new and useful relationships with OEs worldwide via the Network, a dedicated community of OEs around the globe.
Within our Alumni is a belonging, a familiarity that is part and parcel of attending College, and that doesn’t end when you leave. Many of us carry the guiding principles of what we learnt at College into our adult lives, and being part of the Association allows us to extend that into our professional and social lives.
As OEs, we have a shared ethos that enables us to engage with fellow OEs wherever they may be with a mutual expectation of integrity. This is so important. In many ways, this network has worked and functioned successfully for generations in Guernsey. We want to work to develop this to provide better connectivity globally.
Although the College was founded 460 years ago, we continue to develop as a school, enhancing our campus, playing fields, and academic offerings. In the same way, we need to continue to enhance the OEA incrementally so that parents, students and OEs see the value earlier and more regularly.
Andy Niles (7423)
President
