Summer wines
"Summer Wines" was the topic for the first social event on the OEA calendar for 2006. Twenty four OE's and their better halves enjoyed a delightful tasting under the expert guidance of Richard Allisette from the Sommelier Wine Company
The whites started with Australian fizz, then spanned the globe with Sauvignon de Touraine, Spanish Verdejo and Pinot Gris from New Zealand. There was even a comparison of bottle closures - real cork, plastic cork and screw-cap.
The arrival of the buffet supper signalled the switch to red wines, which were Gamay de Touraine, a Chilean Merlot, then back to France for the Chateau La Tour and some fine Bourgogne.
