Bisley report 2008

Bisley report 2008

Riflemen from over the world have been packing their shooting gear at Bisley and returning to their homes with memories of their successes or otherwise of the previous ten days. Nick Mace (pictured above) had an exceptional time, and tied for first place in the Grand Aggregate (the total scores for the main competitions) with Chief Petty Officer Nigel Ball and Flt Lt. David Calvert. Nigel counted Nick into second place by virtue of eleven central bulls with Calvert taking third place seven “V”s behind Nick.

Nick was joined by Adam and Peter Jory and young Nick Branch in the final of the Queen’s Prize on Saturday. (Young Michael Creber scored 144 in the second stage but missed the cut at 146). Peter scored 291 Adam 290 Nick Branch 287 and Nick Mace 285. All four acquitted themselves well on a sultry day with fickle quickly changing winds. The winner Zainal Md Zain scored 294 as did Andrew le Cheminant and Bruce Horwood of Jersey and six other shooters but had a greater number of “V” bulls. Andrew was unfortunate to be caught whilst in the lead by a wind change which resulted in him scoring a magpie.

A number of OE’s and College boys fired in the Mackinnon on Saturday for Guernsey. The boys too will take back memories of a very successful Bisley.
