The Elizabeth College Foundation

The setting up of the Elizabeth College Foundation is a defining moment in more than four centuries of College history. It has been established with a number of important aims, not least to bring together members of what is now a wide Elizabeth College family. This family includes former parents of pupils who may have spent up to fourteen years with the College, Old Elizabethans themselves, current Elizabethans and their parents, and other friends of the College.. The Foundation will assist Elizabeth College in continuing to provide an excellent all-round education for children of the Bailiwick.

We are very privileged to have as our Foundation Patrons two Old Elizabethans: Sir Peter Le Cheminant (3946) and the Bailiff, Geoffrey Rowland (5603).

The first endeavour of the Foundation has been a Development Appeal, launched in Spring 2007, to raise funds for a set of projects to be delivered within three years. These projects were selected as developments which were urgently required by the College and which will, as far as possible, benefit all pupils at both the Junior School and Upper School.

This Foundation Development Appeal has been extremely successful and nearly £1.5 million has been raised from OEs in Guernsey, the UK and many other far-flung places in the world, as well as from Parents, Staff and the wider community. In addition we are currently developing a Legacy programme for those who would like to donate to Elizabeth College through their Will.

No time has been wasted in putting the funds already donated to work. We are delighted that the New Sixth Form Centre is now complete and in very active use. The fantastic new facilities are much appreciated by the students and will be of great benefit to them. Also completed and in use is the all-weather playing surface at Beechwood and the new flexible library/learning space at Acorn House. The next major project will be a new pavilion at the Memorial Field, which is on track to be completed by the end of 2009.

Further details of the Development projects are given in the Foundation Newsletter June 2008 and Foundation Newsletter June 2009 .

If you wish to find out more about the Foundation or how you can help please contact the Foundation Office (Tel 01481 728217), who would also be happy to arrange for you to see the Foundation projects already completed and in hand.
