Golf Day 2006

The second OEA Golf Competition took place at the Grande Mare Golf Course on Friday 8 September 2006, in beautiful sunshine but with a stiff breeze.

27 OEs took part in a Stableford Team Competition. The wind made the course even more difficult than usual but the advantage for many was that bags were considerably lighter at the end as golf ball after golf ball disappeared into lakes ditches and undergrowth.

The prize giving and dinner was attended by 43 players and partners. The very handsome trophy presented by last year's winners, Jeremy Rihoy, Richard Ogier and Peter Radford, was won by Richard Babbe (5461), Nigel Brennan (5544) and Nick Mahy, (a late replacement for David Grut). The two winners of the nearest the pin competition were Neville Brouard and Nigel Brennan. The President's nomination for most improved player went to Bob Chilcott (4264).

Many thanks to all those who took part and made the whole day such a success, in particular Keith Austin (4974) the organiser. We hope that next year there will be an even larger turnout.
